HairByChrissy, Notorious Influencer Hairstylist, Is Getting Attacked On TikTok
Just as all female TV characters seem to have the same loose curls, you may have noticed influencers all appear to be wearing an identical blonde balayage wig. Well, not a wig, but the work of the same salon, Habit. For years, Habit has been the go-to spot for Instagram influencers and bloggers, who will travel to Arizona or Los Angeles just to get a cut from salon owner and social media star Chrissy Rasmussen.
Recent cuts that she gave to stars like Mads Lewis, Dixie D’Amelio, and members of the Hype House, first surfaced by Mashable reporter Morgan Sung, have drawn new attention to Rasmussen’s page. But those eyes weren’t taking in the styling: They were focused on the fact that neither the clients nor the staff appeared to be wearing masks.
habit salon, a hair salon in LA that’s super popular with influencers, is getting absolutely flamed on tiktok for not enforcing masks for both clients and employees. tiktok users are specifically calling out chrissy rasmussen, who owns the salon pic.twitter.com/94q3MfraCB— morgoblin sung (@morgan_sung) October 13, 2020
Rasmussen has now limited comments on her Instagram and turned off comments for her TikTok posts. But both are inundated with criticism about the lack of masks—and the lack of diversity in the salon.

Gilbert, Arizona and the city of Los Angeles, home to both Habit locations, require face masks to be worn when groups of people congregate in public spaces. While both states have seen a decline in Covid-19 cases since the summer, the United States in general is facing another surge. But even back in July, people were calling out influencers like The Bachelor’s Tia Booth or Champagne And Chanel’s Emily Herren for traveling to still get their hair cut by Rasmussen.
For now, Rasmussen appears to be almost enjoying the criticism, attempting to reclaim the hashtag #HairByChrispy by making "Hair By Chrispy" merch for her stylists and clients.
