Surprise! Jake Paul Threw a Huge House Party in Lockdown
In news that will surprise no one who has ever read a headline about Jake Paul, the popular YouTuber is under fire from Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub after neighbors captured footage of a house party at his mansion over the weekend. California has been under a stay home order since March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and even May’s modified order for businesses (which have since been put back on lockdown) only allowed for essential outings. This mass, unmasked, jam-packed gathering is “a big huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning,” Weintraub told FOX 11, adding that she is working with the Lost Hills Sheriff’s department to implement a zero-tolerance policy moving forward.
Jake Paul rose to Vine, and later, YouTube, fame alongside his brother, Logan Paul, and formed the talent incubator group Team 10 in 2016. Paul’s houses have often been the site of YouTube and creator drama. Instagram stories from the weekend party show guests in a packed living room, participating in drinking games, and, most perplexingly, hanging off of a moving excavator in the backyard.
NEW: The mayor of Calabasas & neighbors tell me they’re outraged after they say YouTube celebrity @jakepaul threw a massive party at his mansion on Saturday. They call it irresponsible, selfish, & say it’s businesses & workers who pay the price for this w/ lockdowns. 10pm @FOXLA pic.twitter.com/COiVleuDH2

These same antics were captured by one of Paul’s neighbors, who sent video to FOX’s Bill Melugin.
“All of them are over there hanging out, no masks, no nothing,” the neighbor can be heard saying in the clip.
Several frustrated neighbors contacted me this morning and shared their own videos of the party. Calabasas’ mayor tells me she’s working with the Lost Hills Sheriffs station to ensure a zero tolerance policy on house parties from now on, no more warnings. Paul has always had fraught relationships with neighbors. In 2017, KTLA did a segment on his street in West Hollywood, where neighbors complained of loud parties and stunts like lighting a mattress on fire.
“It used to be a really nice, quiet street and now [it’s] just this, like, war zone,” former neighbor Maytal Dahan told KTLA in the 2017 clip. “We’re families here and we’re more than happy to have them live here if they’re respectful of their neighbors, but they’re not.”
Three years later, time has not healed all wounds.
“No gatherings will be tolerated like this,” Weintraub emphasized to FOX 11. “Something like this will not happen again.”
A rep for Paul did not respond right away to a request for comment.
