Coconut oil fueled a playful meme on TikTok in December after a sex tape that seemingly featured influencer Jay Alvarrez appeared online. “A sex tape distributed without the consent of the creators amounts to revenge porn,” I wrote at the time, “but in this case, it has inspired memes and jokes.” The woman in the video, model Sveta Bilyalova, came forward and confirmed that it was, in fact, posted without her consent—and alleges that Alvarrez leaked it. Alvarrez, however, gave a different version of the story on Instagram.

While Alvarrez confirms that the video was leaked without their consent, he disputes playing any role in it resurfacing.

"She created an entire fake story up to validate how she feels to try [to] point the blame on something else," he said of Bilyalova. At the same time, he criticized the "double standard" women face when it comes to expressing sexuality.

In a briefly deleted, now-reuploaded YouTube video, 31-year-old Bilyalova says the sex tape was filmed four years ago, when she and Alvarrez were in a casual romantic relationship, and that it was filmed by her good friend who owns the rights to the footage. She also shares a screenshot of text messages she alleges are from Alvarrez, to whom she says she has not spoken for a year, in which he threatens to release the tape.

The video was released after a text conversation between Bilyalova and an unknown person. “I was blackmailed...not that long ago with those videos from an anonymous number,” Bilyalova says in the video.

Bilyalova accuses Alvarrez of manipulating her in other ways, as well, including taking money from her brand deals.

California Penal Code 647 defines revenge porn, a misdemeanor, as an act in which someone “intentionally distributes the image of the intimate body part or parts of another identifiable person, or an image of the person depicted engaged in an act of sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation, sexual penetration, or an image of masturbation by the person depicted or in which the person depicted participates, under circumstances in which the persons agree or understand that the image shall remain private.”

A post on Bilyalova's Instagram account also references the accusations.

In a caption of two photos of herself, she writes: “Hi guys 😘😘 Decided to comment on coconut oil video 🥥 Who wants to know truth about it there is a link in my bio. Who don’t know what it is, please don’t bother, this shit is boring.”
